I had a pretty vivid dream last night. I jumped into a pool, and it turned out to be much deeper than I expected. There was a ladder in the pool near where I jumped in. I reached for it to climb up out of the water, but it was out of reach. I was suspended between the top and bottom of the pool, and I couldn't actually see the surface or the bottom. All I could see was the ladder which I could never reach. Of course, this produced a feeling of suffocation. It was not a pleasant dream at all.
When I woke up, I realized the reason for the dream. I was having a major asthma attack. I haven't had an asthma attack in several years. So, I don't have a good inhaler anymore. I'll need to go see the doctor about it next week if I don't get better before then. I suffered through an eight hour shift at work, taking frequent rest breaks to catch my breath. Advil helps a little because if cuts down some of the inflammation. As I left work, I remembered one thing my doctor had told me years ago when I first had asthma problems. Caffeine helps. So, I went to the closest coffee shop and got a drink with extra espresso. Wow. It helped a lot. It was amazing. So, I decided to stop and get some caffeine tablets. I don't know if they'll help as well as the coffee, but I'm willing to try. At least they'll fit in my pocket while I'm at work tomorrow.
So, how is everyone else today?

But you should still get an inhaler.
That year I learned the two things can help as an emergency "band-aid": the coffee, as you found out; and hot and sour soup. It is one of the best excuses for Chinese food EVER.
Feel better soon.
That I found out the hard way.

It's apparently been a sudden problem for a lot of people living in this area. Many of my coworkers said they were having trouble too.
I was okay today when I remembered to take it easy. I just need to remember to not over exert myself for the next few days.

I will. I promise.
